West Indies beat India by six wickets
In order to test the skill set of the younger cricketers ahead of the ODI World Cup, the Indian team management decided to give a break to skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the second ODI. The move completely backfired as the visiting team failed to put up a show in the bat. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill gave them a good start, but the cricketers once again failed to convert their start into a big total.
On the other hand, the returning Sanju Samson failed to do justice to the opportunity while Axar Patel was promoted in the order, but that move failed as well. Later, Suryakumar Yadav tried to rescue India from an embarrassing situation, but the Mumbai-born cricketer could not continue for long as the Hardik Pandya-led side posted 181 runs in the first innings.
West Indies, meanwhile, looked a lot more composed with the bat. Shai Hope led from the front, hitting 63* runs off 84 deliveries, while Keacy Carty impressed everyone with a gritty knock of 48* runs. Shardul Thakur looked good, picking up three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav picked up one wicket.
After the completion of the match, head coach Rahul Dravid stated the importance of trying out new things ahead of the World Cup, but as the day draws closer, the problem seems plenty for the Indian team.
