India and Pakistan encounters are always high-pressure games and it was nothing different when India and Pakistan women met on Sunday, February 12 in their opening fixture of the Women's T20 World Cup. India won the game comfortably with the help of a special knock from Jemimah Rodrigues. Jemimah and Richa Ghosh ensure that the Indian team crosses the victory line.

What transpires in an India versus Pakistan encounter is known only to a few who have been a part of those encounters themselves and one of those very few happens to be the Indian batting maestro, Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli has been part of many intense games against Pakistan. He posted a picture of the Indian women's team on his Instagram account congratulating them for their massive victory. He penned, "What a win from our women's team against Pakistan in a high-pressure game and a tough run chase."

"The women’s team is taking such giant leaps ahead with every tournament we play and it’s going to inspire a whole generation of girls to take up the sport and take women’s cricket higher and higher. More power to all of you. God bless," the Delhi-born added.

Speaking about the game, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first and posted a score of 149 on the board. Captain Bismah Maroof scored 68 off 55 balls and remained unbeaten to stitch a vital partnership at the end to take her team to such a total. Ayesha Naseem, 18, however, stole the show with a quick-fire innings of 43* off 25 balls, leaving the Indian bowlers shell-shocked.

India were led to victory in a nail-biting chase by Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored a strengthening knock with 53 off 38 balls. Richa Ghosh's 20-ball 31*, which effectively ended Pakistan's chances of winning, was a major factor in India's triumph. By the virtue of an unbroken 58-run partnership, Jemimah and Richa helped India cross the finish line with one over remaining.
