The duo of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav wreaked havoc against Punjab Kings as they played a key role in helping Mumbai Indians beat the Shikhar Dhawan-led side by six wickets. Notably, the southpaw played some brilliant cricket, scoring 75 runs off 41 deliveries while flamboyant batter Suryakumar managed to hit 66 runs off 31 deliveries. Courtesy of their phenomenal brand of cricket, Mumbai chased 214 runs in the penultimate over of the match.
Meanwhile, talking about their chase, Kishan lauded Suryakumar and stated that since the latter was playing an aggressive brand of cricket, it helped Kishan to ease down a bit. Replying to this, the number one ranked T20I batter in the world responded that he wants to thank his physios to keep him fit as he wasn't well in the last two days.
“It was a good start, and during the most important phase during a T20 game you were there, you played good shots, and that helped ease some pressure on me to keep playing the big shots. That was a very positive aspect in terms of the match which helped me get into my comfort zone,” said Kishan in a video shared on the official Twitter handle of IPL.
“I would like to thank the physios, they’ve worked incredibly hard to help me get ready for the match in the last 48 hours, they would stay awake all night to help me prepare for the match. I didn’t try to do anything special,” Suryakumar Yadav replied.
Following thisNEW, the stumper-batter cheekily teased Yadav for stealing his credit. He also hailed the Mumbai-born cricketer for his 360-degree shots against Punjab.
“I was standing on the non-striker end when you decked Sam Curran all over the park before the strategic break, I thought ‘Jis din mera acha innings aata hai, ye mera pura credit le jate hain, mere upar baat hi nahi ho payegi, aapne har taraf ka shot maar diya’ (Whenever I play well, you take away all the credit by playing even better, how will people talk about me, you played shots all over the ground),” Kishan stated.
