'Yeh club ka mazza alag hai' - Rohit Sharma welcomes Ishan Kishan to 200-run club after latter's majestic knock against Bangladesh

India's young dashing opener Ishan Kishan found himself in an elite list of players after a whirlwind 210 against Bangladesh in the third and final ODI of the series in Chattogram. The southpaw became only the fourth Indian to reach the memorable milestone and was welcomed to the 200-run club by the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma via a post on Instagram.

Ishan Kishan, who was drafted into the playing eleven after an injury to skipper Rohit Sharma in the previous encounter against Bangladesh, played the innings of his life in the series finale. The youngster was on the attack from the get-go, launching a scathing assault against the Bangladeshi bowlers.

The southpaw brought up his maiden century in just 85 deliveries but accelerated after reaching the milestone. His double century came in double quick time for the visitors as he became the fastest to reach the historic landmark. Rohit Sharma, who holds the record for most double centuries in the 50-over format, welcomed his compatriot and Mumbai Indians teammate to the 200-run club with a picture of the southpaw, saying, “Yeh club ka mazza alag hai Ishan Kishan."

Kishan commented on his skipper's congratulatory post, writing, "Maza hi maza hai.”

I was in the zone to get 300: Ishan Kishan

The 24-year-old joined Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma as the only Indians to have breached the 200-run mark in ODIs. However, he was not content with his innings and felt that he could've reached the 300-run mark if he had stayed at the crease for the remaining overs in the innings.

"When I got out, 15 overs were left. That's 90 balls. If you play 45 balls, it's easy to get another hundred when you are that set. Bowlers are under pressure. I was in the zone to get 300, but unfortunately, I didn't… But it was a special one to get my name up there with so many legend players," Ishan Kishan said in the post-match ceremony.
