The young Indian squad exhibited remarkable grit and determination, clinching a series victory against England in the ongoing fourth Test of the five-match series. They secured a win by five wickets, propelled by a stellar unbeaten 72-run partnership between Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel, ultimately sealing the deal for the home team.

Following the match, star Indian batter and former captain Virat Kohli, who opted to skip the ongoing series for personal reasons, took to social media to share his thoughts on the team's triumph.

YES!!! 🇮🇳 Phenomenal series win by our young team. Showed grit, determination, and resilience," he wrote on 'X'.

Coming to the match, the Indian team commenced today's play at 40 for 0. Subsequently, India faced a swift transition from 84 for 0 to 120 for 5, invoking memories of the challenges encountered in Hyderabad.

However, Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel, the young talents, showcased brilliant batting skills, skillfully rotating the strike. When victory seemed imminent, they unleashed a powerful offensive.

In an unusual turn, it was England's spinners who struggled to maintain control; while Bashir continued to excel, Hartley grappled with consistency. Despite Stokes' strategic field changes and attempts to induce false shots, the day belonged to India, securing a victory with five wickets in hand.

With a 3-1 lead and one Test remaining in Dharamsala, the series is clinched, but both teams have the opportunity to earn 12 WTC points, highlighting the enduring allure of Test cricket.

I play according to the demands of the situation: Dhruv Jurel

After the match, Dhruv Jurel, named Player of the Match, emphasised adapting to the game situation. In the 1st innings, he prioritized accumulating runs, recognizing the significance of batting last. Jurel credited his partners for their contributions. In the 2nd innings, he highlighted a strategic partnership-building approach with Shubman Gill, breaking it down into 10-run sets.

“I play according to the demands of the situation. The 1st innings, we needed to get runs as well, we knew we had to bat last and so any runs would be vital. I was involved in some partnerships, so credit does go to all those who stayed and added runs. I just saw the ball and then reacted to it, not thinking too far ahead. The conversation was good (with Shubman Gill in the 2nd innings), we just broke it into 10-run sets and started developing the partnership,” Jurel said in the match presentation.
