Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Najam Sethi took a sly dig at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah for 'unilaterally presenting' the ACC structure and calendar on January 5. Shah is also President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and posted a Tweet on Thursday announcing the pathway for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
But the newly-appointed PCB Chief seemePakistand disappointed with ACC's decision not to consult with before announcing the structure of major tournaments in Asia. The relationship between two Asian giants continues to damage severely in recent years and the change at management in respective boards hasn't helped much.
Sethi replied to Shah's Tweet, sarcastically 'thanking' him for 'unilaterally presenting' the ACC calendar for 2023-24, and also asked him to present a structure and calendar of the upcoming Pakistani Super League 2023.
"Thank you Jay Shah for unilaterally presenting ACC structure and calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which Pakistan is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present structure and calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated," Sethi tweeted.
Thank you @JayShah for unilaterally presenting @ACCMedia1 structure & calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which 🇵🇰 is the event host. The PCB is scheduled to host the 2023 Asia Cup but there is no official update on whether the tournament will happen in Pakistan. On October 18, Shah confirmed that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan and said that the 2023 Asia Cup would be held at a neutral venue. In response, the then PCB Chief Ramiz Raja threatened to back out from the ICC's 2023 One-Day World Cup which will take place in India.
