Former England skipper Michael Vaughan shared his opinion on Virat Kohli’s form and said that he should take a break from the game. He believes that a break would help Kohli clear his mind and get back in form with ease. Kohli’s IPL woes continued on Sunday (May 8) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad as he was removed for a golden duck for the third time this season.

The 33-year-old had to walk back to the dugout after the very first ball of the match as his subtle flip to spinner Jagadeesha Suchith travelled straight into SRH skipper Kane Williamson’s hands at mid-wicket. In his entire IPL career, Kohli has been dismissed for a duck only six times, including the three ducks from the ongoing season.

Vaughan took to Twitter and wrote: “Sometimes a break from the game is all a player needs. The amount of cricket these players play, a break is as good as anything.”

Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the history of IPL and was just one run away from getting to 6500 runs in the tournament before he stepped out to bat on Sunday. The prolific batter has only 216 runs from 12 games this season and at an average of 19.64.

Before Vaughan, former India coach Ravi Shastri had also suggested Kohli should take a break, saying that the batter is ‘overcooked’. Shastri is of the opinion that Kohli has many more years of cricket ahead of him, and taking a break would help him focus on his form and bounce back stronger in the game.

Speaking of yesterday’s match, despite Kohli’s dismal performance, RCB scored 192 against Sunrisers Hyderabad thanks to Faf du Plessis’ 50-ball 73 and Dinesh Kartik’s explosion of 30* from 8 balls. While defending, Wanindu Hasaranga scalped a five-wicket haul to destruct SRH’s batting unit and lead the team to a victory by 67 runs. RCB will be against Punjab Kings in their next match on May 13.
