Suresh Raina will be missing his first ever IPL game as he is flying to Holland to be with his pregnant wife. An elated Raina announced the same in the post-match presentation ceremony on Sunday after his team Gujarat Lions defeated Kolkata Knight Riders. In the same match, Raina also achieved the distinction of becoming the first player to go past 400 runs in his IPL career.

“I am meeting my wife tomorrow, leaving for Holland. So, (I am) very excited right now,” said Raina.

Earlier, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, Raina tweeted a picture to wish his mother and his wife Priyanka – who is expecting couple’s first baby this month.

Raina, who celebrated his first anniversary just few weeks back, revealed the news on Instagram confirming that the baby is due next month. Raina is currently busy leading the Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while his wife, Priyanka Chowdhary, is currently in Holland.

The cricketer posted an Instagram of his wife Priyanka practicing putting diapers on a baby doll. The caption with the picture read, “Keep practice, hard love, we have to do it together very soon.”

The 28-year-old married Priyanka in the month of April last year and spent several months honeymooning in Europe. The soon-to-be-mom is based in Amsterdam where she works as an investment banker.

On the career front he is enjoying the new leadership role very well. His team Gujarat Lions currently sits at the top of the points table with 14 points are just a win away from qualifying to the playoffs.
