Anil Kumble and Virender Sehwag are two gems of Indian cricket. Sehwag was a destructive opener whereas Kumble was a magician of spinning the ball. Both greats share a very strong bond since their International stint. These two greats played for Team India for more than a decade. And when today Kumble turned 49, it was a known thing that “Nawab of Najafgarh” will wish him but who knew it will come in a comical way.

Indian spin wizard was not only good at bowling but also was a better player on scoring runs in his time with India. He got one ton and five half-centuries in his career. Jumbo was also appointed as the full-time Indian skipper back in 2007. But, there is a funny fact that he once missed his ton in Adelaide during Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2007/08 just due to Sehwag’s advice.

Sehwag recalls an incident wishing Anil Kumble on his special day

In past during an interview, Karnataka player opened up over Sehwag’s incident and told, “Ishant was batting and we were nine down. I came back at tea time and I was batting at 87. So, the Delhiite came to me at tea and said what are you doing, why are you taking so much time. Just go for boundaries or six and the first ball I went for it, I got out and I was out 87.”

Taking a hilarious jibe over that incident, Nawab took to his Twitter handle to wish former cricketer on his special day and wrote, “One of India’s greatest ever Match winners and a terrific role model. Sorry for depriving you of your second century @anilkumble1074 Bhai. But I pray that you score a century in real life. Only 51 more to go. come on ..come on Anil Bhai! Happy Birthday.”

Here is the tweet from Sehwag:

49-year-old was recently appointed as Kings XI Punjab Director of Cricket Operations. He replaced Mike Hesson for the upcoming IPL season. While playing for Team India, he took more than 900 international wickets across all the formats. And he is the only second bowler to take 500 wickets and score 2000 runs after Australia‘s Shane Warne.
