Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has eclipsed his opening partner Sachin Tendulkar in terms of endorsement value. Though the southpaw couldn’t take over Tendulkar as far as cricketing numbers are considered is certainly doing a better job after retirement.

While Sachin has been away from the game restricting his engagements to duty as MP, mostly personal and some commercial Ganguly is the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal and also works as an expert with TV news channels.

Latest figures suggest that Ganguly is able to gross more money by endorsing a single brand than Sachin. Master blaster was the advertisers favourite right though his career as he remained at the top of his game and ruled the hearts of billions of cricket fans not only in Indian but across the globe with his cricketing masterclass. But since retirement, he has restricted his engagements and that is the reason for this dip.

As per a report published in internet giant Rediff.com Sourav earns Rs. 1 to 1.5 crore against his association with a brand for 4-5 day every year. Which is definitely higher that what the advertisers have to shell to rope in Sachin to endorse their brand. The CAB president not only has a list of bigger brands in his list but is also working with West Bengal based companies which has increased his overall market value.

His popularity rose after he hosted Bengali quiz show ‘Dadagiri’ on TV which was a huge hit. Among the most recent brands he has signed up with are logistics company DTDC and Tata’s Tetley tea.

Indranil Das Blah, partner and COO at CAA KWAN, a sports and celebrity management company explaining Ganguly’s grown endorsement value was quoted by Rediff as saying, “Ganguly didn’t go into hibernation. Even after he retired from the IPL, he was involved through the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) and anchored TV shows. In Bengal he is as popular as some of the biggest movie stars from the state, so he makes sense for a lot of brands.”

Among active cricketers Indian captain Virat Kohli leads the list with former captain MS Dhoni right behind him, two of the biggest names in Indian cricket now Virat and Dhoni charge approximately 8-12 crores fees for endorsing a brand.
