It would require a special effort from Bangladesh to finish the Test without facing defeat as the visitors lost three wickets by the end of day four in the pursuit of 424 runs to win. With the help of the fifties from Temba Bavuma and Faf du Plessis, South Africa declared their 2nd innings at 247/6 extending their lead to 424 runs.

0 – Bangladesh losing their first two wickets without any runs on the board was their 2nd such instance in Test cricket. They were two wickets down for no runs in the 2nd innings of Dhaka Test against Zimbabwe in 2014.
4 – Number of keeping dismissals Litton Das has affected in the South Africa’s 2nd innings. Only on three occasions, a Bangladesh keeper affected as many as five dismissals in a Test innings with the last one being Imrul Kayes’ effort in New Zealand in January when he kept wickets in absence of Mushfiqur Rahim.
6 – Bangladesh’s 2nd innings was the first instance for them where they lost two wickets in the very first over of an innings in Test cricket. Before this game, the fewest balls their batsmen faced before losing the 2nd wicket was ten balls against India at Dhaka in 2007.

South Africa lost only nine wickets in the Johannesburg Test in 1965 against England, in the Birmingham Test in 2003 against England and in the Basseterre Test match in 2010 against the Windies.
247 – Runs Mehidy Hasan Miraz has conceded in this Test match. These are the 3rd most runs conceded by a Bangladesh bowler in Test cricket after 268 by Sohag Gazi against Sri Lanka in 2014 and 263 by Abdur Razzak against New Zealand in 2013. Chittagong was the host for both the Test matches.
247 – Mehidy conceded 247 runs in this Test match which is the 3rd most by any player in a Test without taking a wicket. Imran Tahir conceded 260 against Australia at Adelaide in 2012 while Khan Mohammad of Pakistan conceded 259 against Windies in 1958 at Kingston.
