A master-class innings from AB de Villiers sealed the 3-match ODI series for South Africa as they defeated Bangladesh by 104 runs in the 2nd ODI at Paarl. De Villiers scored a blistering knock of 176 coming off just 101 balls as the home side posted a huge total of 353/6. Bangladesh had a decent position in the chase before they collapsed in the 2nd half getting bowled out for just 249.

6 – Number of ODI centuries for AB de Villiers coming in less than 70 balls. No other player has more than five centuries in ODI cricket coming in less than 70 balls. Shahid Afridi and Virender Sehwag have four such hundreds each.

12 – Number of century partnerships between Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers in ODI format. These are the most for a South African pair going past Herschelle Gibbs and Graeme Smith pair with 11 ODI hundred stands.

93 – Balls AB de Villiers’ needed for completing his 150 in this game. This is the 5th fastest 150 in ODI cricket with the fastest coming in 64 balls which was by De Villiers only.

169.23 – AB de Villiers’ batting strike rate during his 176-run knock coming off 104 balls. Only Shane Watson (185* off 112 at a strike rate of 192.7 against Bangladesh in 2011) scored more runs than De Villiers in an ODI innings at a better S/R.

176 – De Villiers’ 176-run knock is the 4th highest individual innings for a South African in ODI cricket. This is also the 3rd highest individual ODI innings for any player against Bangladesh.

201 – AB de Villiers became the 6th player hit 200 sixes in ODI cricket. He needed 214 innings to complete 200 sixes; the 2nd quickest after Shahid Afridi (195).

550Quinton de Kock’s wicket was the first for Bangladesh in ODI cricket after conceding 550 runs and bowling 514 balls since dismissing Shikhar Dhawan in the Champions Trophy semi-final.
