Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers once again successfully defended a seemingly comfortable total to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 runs at home on Monday. Chasing a measly target of 147, RCB were restricted to 141/6 in 20 overs. The visitors needed 12 off the last over and Bhuvneshwar Kumar executed the plan well to keep the batsmen silent.

The 28-year-old gave away just 6 runs and took a wicket to give Sunrisers Hyderabad a 5-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2018. He pretty much pulled victory from the jaws of defeat and took them to the top of the table. His last over heroics has left fans and pundits in awe of his bowling.

Soon enough, former Indian batsman and mentor of SRH franchise, VVS Laxman took to his Twitter handle to laud the seamer. Laxman wrote, “Defending 25 in 3 overs is not easy but great execution under pressure from the bowlers. Bhuvi showing why he is so special and Sid Kaul was exceptional in the end as well. Kane as always led brilliantly and the fighting spirit in the team is what I am enjoying.”

Kumar was rested on request from the BCCI

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has missed four games in IPL so far and it has been learnt that BCCI had requested Sunrisers Hyderabad to manage his workload so as to prevent him from burning out. After being rested, the pacer himself revealed that he was not injured and him being rested as a precautionary measure.

In fact, prior to the start of IPL, BCCI even had a talk with franchises regarding the number of balls which Indian pacer would bowl in nets during IPL. Now, the franchise seems to work on that plan by not playing Bhuvneshwar.

In the coming IPL games, one may see more India pacers being given rest as India have a long season ahead, which will only end after World Cup 2019.
