Sri Lanka announces squad for ODI series against West Indies: Sri Lankan selectors on Friday selected three uncapped players in the squad for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies along with batsman Lahiru Thirimanne, inspite of dropping him for the Colombo Tests.
Right-handed batsman Shehan Jayasuriya, spin bowler Jeffrey Vandersay and all-rounder Dhanushka Gunathilaka will look to grab their chances during the three 50-over matches, which will take place on November 1, 4 and 7.
Tillakaratne Dilshan and fast-bowler Lasith Malinga who have both retired from Test cricket will join the ODI squad, as the hosts will look to clinch the series against West Indies.
Thirimanne lost his place in the Test team after a string of low scores but has been in good form in recent appearances for the one-day side.
West Indies, who have already lost the first Test against Sri Lanka, and have been ordinary in ODIs as they have even failed to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Hence, West Indies will want to prove everyone that they are still one of the best cricket playing nations in the world by playing some quality cricket against Sri Lanka in the 50-over format.
