Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have taken disciplinary action against Kamil Mishara who has been asked to return home immediately due to breach of discipline. Mishara was included in Sri Lanka’s 18-member squad for the ongoing tour but did not get a chance to feature in either of the Test matches.

As per reports, he will be immediately flown back. Sri Lanka are currently locking horns with Bangladesh in the series-deciding second Test match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

The emerging batter had “entertained a visitor” in his hotel room, thereby violating the players’ code of conduct. “There is hotel CCTV footage that we have reviewed and we would like to interview him on what we saw,” a source was quoted by Times of India.

“Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to recall Kamil Mishara from Bangladesh for his alleged breach of rules [(clause no 1 (j)] governing the player’s conduct/behavior as depicted in his Tour Contract,” an SLC release read.

“Accordingly, Mishara, who is a part of the 18-member squad taking part in the ongoing Sri Lanka vs. Bangladesh Series, will be immediately flown back to Sri Lanka. Upon his return, Sri Lanka Cricket will conduct a full inquiry into the ‘violations’ and upon the outcome of the inquiry, further actions would be determined on the player. There is hotel CCTV footage that we have reviewed and we would like to interview him on what we saw”, it added.

It remains to be seen what kind of action will be taken against the 21-year-old who has just represented Sri Lanka in three T20Is this year and is eagerly awaiting his maiden Test and ODI caps. Coming back to the ongoing two-match series in Bangladesh, the second Test is underway, while the first Test in Chattogram ended in a stalemate.
