As expected, the 2nd Test between Sri Lanka and Australia finished on Day 3 as Australia were bowled out for 183 with Dilruwan Perera taking 6 wickets and completing his 10-wicket match haul. With this loss, Australia recorded their 8th straight loss in Asia in Tests. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the day’s play.

1 – Dilruwan Perera became the first Sri Lanka to pick 10-wicket match haul and score a fifty in the same Test match.

3 – This is Australia’s 3rd defeat in a Test that finished in 3 days in last 12 months.

3 – Number of times two different players picked up 10-wicket match hauls in the same Test since 2000. 3 of those 5 have come at Galle.

5 – This is only the fifth instance of a player scoring fifty and taking 10 wickets in the game against Australia in Tests. Last was Dale Steyn in 2008 at Melbourne.

11 – Matches taken by Dilruwan Perera to pick 50 Test wickets; fastest by a Sri Lankan player.

84 – Number of Test wickets Rangana Herath has taken at Galle. These are the 4th most by a bowler at a single venue in Tests. Top three places are grabbed by Muttiah Muralitharan.

501 – Balls faced by Australia in this Test match. Last time they faced 501 or fewer balls in a Test after playing in completed innings was in 1995 vs West Indies at Port of Spain.

1297 – Balls bowled in this Test match are the 3rd lowest in last 100 years of Test cricket where all 40 wickets fell. Fewest are 1213 balls in India-Australia Test at Mumbai in 2004.

1997 – Last time no Australian managed to score a fifty in a Test match was in 1997 against England at The Oval.

2004 – Last time Australia aggregated less than 300 in a Test match after playing both innings was in 2004 at Mumbai against India. It was the only other instance where Australia aggregated less than 300 in a Test in last 20 years.

2010 – Last time a Sri Lankan player before Dilruwan Perera picked up a 5-wicket haul and scored a fifty in the same Test was by Lasith Malinga vs India in 2010 also at Galle.
