Despite a few hiccups, Australia clinched an impressive 4-1 win in the recently concluded ODI series, something that will most certainly serve them the revenge they sought after the debacle of the Test series where they were wiped out. Moreover, the visiting Australians showed true character, grit, and courage when they took immense pride in securing their second consecutive series win against the Lankans especially after losing their captain Steve Smith to fatigue early on. That said, we take a look at how each individual Australian player performed in the recently concluded series.

David Warner – 7.5/10

The southpaw took over the captaincy from Steve Smith when the latter pulled out due to fatigue. He impressed in tandem with the bat as he smashed a valiant 106 in the final ODI at Pallekele.

Aaron Finch – 7/10

The right-handed batsman impressed with the bat with a couple of half-centuries. He smashed 145 runs in the series and always managed to give the Aussies the launching platform they required.

Steve Smith – 6.5/10

The 26-year old Australian skipper played just the first two matches of the series and pulled put shortly afterward citing fatigue. However, he managed 88 runs in the two matches he played along with a score of 56.

George Bailey – 8.5/10

George Bailey was perhaps the most consistent of the Australian batsmen. The 34-year old impressed with some impressive performances and also was the leading run-getter for the Aussies in the series with 270 runs.

Travis Head – 5.5/10

Although Travis Head did not show any of the sparks the Australian selectors expected of him, he put up a few solid performances with both bat and ball. He managed 130 runs in the series as well as 3 wickets courtesy of his spin bowling prowess.

Matthew Wade – 7/10

The wicketkeeper-batsman impressed with some impeccable glove work. However, his ability to bat anywhere in the order also showcased something spectacular. He opened the batting in the final ODI and managed 155 runs in the series.

James Faulkner – 7/10

Although Faulkner’s phenomenal batting prowess was somewhat subdued, his bowling was something of a renaissance as far as the Aussies were concerned. The 25-year old impressed with some spectacular death bowling prowess and picked 10 wickets in the series.

Mitchell Starc – 7.5/10

The 26-year old was perhaps the best bowler in the Australia side by a country mile. Apart from stirring up the batsmen with some impressive bowling, he was the highest wicket-taker in the series with 12 wickets to his name.

Adam Zampa – 6/10

The 23-year old leg-spinner was pivotal for the Aussies with Nathan Lyon out with a fatigue-related issue. However, the fact of the matter remained that he picked 9 wickets in spite of being somewhat expensive.

Moises Henriques – 5/10

Henriques came in as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh who was out after having sustained an injury in the Test series. However, Henriques’ well-documented problems in the subcontinent conditions came to light when he could not make any impact with either bat or ball.
