The recently concluded Sri Lanka vs Australia T20I series saw Australia finally get back to winning ways and complete a clean sweep over a hapless home team. The 2-0 win also saw the Aussies erase a portion of the 3-0 loss in the Test series. However, it also consummated David Warner’s captaincy as far as the Australia cricket team is concerned, a position he will certainly be looking to hold in the future series to come. Although the win cannot be brought down to individual performance, we take a look at some of the individuals who were responsible for the win.

David Warner – 7/10:

The southpaw got an extended lease as skipper and impressed by leading the side in a phenomenal manner. However, he had little to do with bat and ball managing just 53 runs in the series.

Glenn Maxwell – 9/10:

Maxwell was certainly one of the big surprises of the series. Having been roped into the side for the T20 series, the 27-year old smashed an audacious 211 runs including an unbeaten 145 in the first match at Pallekele. However, what was even more impressive was the fact that his strike-rate was well over 200.

Usman Khawaja – 4/10:

Australia’s newest T20 player also did not have much to do with the bat. Not because he could not, but because he did not have to. Needless to say, the southpaw managed 42 runs in the series.

Travis Head – 6.5/10:

For some time now, Travis Head has been tipped to become an international star. Although he has not had the best of luck in terms of matches and performances, he impressed in the first T20I at Pallekele with an impressive 45. He managed 54 runs in the series and sealed the tour with a six.

Moises Henriques – 2.5/10:

The 29-year old Aussie all-rounder has a well-documented difficulty with playing in the subcontinent and its conditions. He made little or no impact with both bat and ball.

George Bailey – 3/10:

The former skipper impressed in the ODI series with some consistent performances. However, he did not get to bat in the T20I series in the solitary match that he featured in.

James Faulkner – 6/10:

Faulkner was one of the better Aussie bowlers in the pace attack. In spite of being somewhat expensive, overall this was a good series for the 25-year old Tasmanian. He claimed 4 wickets in the series.

Peter Nevill – 6.5/10:

As always, Peter Nevill boasts of solid wicketkeeping skills. Although he did not get to bat as much as he would have liked, Nevill’s glove work was the talk of the town.

Scott Boland – 6/10:

Another newcomer to the Australian pace battery, Scott Boland impressed in bits and pieces with the ball. He managed 3 wickets in the series.

John Hastings – 5.5/10:

The 29-year old was fantastic with his change in pace and stirred up the Sri Lankan batsmen with his ability to get an additional bounce from the surface. However, he did not have much luck in the wickets column as he managed just the two wickets.

Mitchell Starc – 6/10:

The 26-year old once again impressed with some fearsome pace as well as skill. This meant that he had continued his form from the ODI series to capture four wickets in the series.

Adam Zampa – 7/10:

Zampa’s rise in the Australian team has been a well-documented one. The 23-year old is now somewhat of an established player in the Australian side and managed 4 wickets in the series.

Matthew Wade – N/A:

In spite of impressing in the ODI series, Wade did not get a game in the T20I series.
