India unleashed an assault on the Sri Lankan bowlers and their batsmen powered the visitors to a massive total of 375/5 courtesy centuries from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the 4th ODI game of the series at the Colombo (RPS). MS Dhoni, who featured in his 300th ODI game, had a successful game with both the bat and behind the wickets, as India defeated the hosts by a huge margin of 168 runs.

Here we look at all the stats and records created during the game.

2 – This game is only the 2nd time in ODI cricket that Virat Kohli elected to bat first after winning the toss. Kohli elected to bat first in the 2014 ODI game vs Sri Lanka at Kolkata.

3 – MS Dhoni’s milestone ODI matches – 100th, 200th, and 300th, have all been against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma and Lasith Malinga are the only players who featured in all the three milestone ODIs.

4 – The Rohit and Virat pair is only the 4th in ODI cricket that has scored three double century stands. They are the third Indian pair to record three double century stands.

6 – Number of International captains who have led Sri Lanka in 2017; the joint-most number of captains across formats in a calendar year for a team. Zimbabwe and England also had six captains in 2001 and 2011 respectively.

10 – Virat Kohli became the 1st player to be a part of ten double century stands in ODI cricket. Upul Tharanga and Ricky Ponting stand next to Kohli as they were parts of seven double century stands each.

73 – MS Dhoni has been unbeaten on 73 occasions in ODI cricket so far. He went past Chaminda Vaas and Shaun Pollock, who were not out in 72 innings in this format.

85 – Rohit Sharma’s 85-ball century in this game is his fastest in ODI cricket. His previous fastest ODI century was off 98 balls against South Africa in 2015 which was his only other century among the 13 that have come in less than 100 balls.

104 – Rohit Sharma’s 104 is his lowest 100+ score in ODIs as an opener. This was Rohit’s 11th ODI hundred as an opener all the previous ten centuries were 120+ scores.

168 – India’s 168-run margin is their biggest in terms of runs in ODIs in Sri Lanka and the highest for any team against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. The previous biggest win for India in Sri Lanka and the previous biggest loss for Sri Lanka at home was the 147-run win by the Indian team in Colombo (RPS) in 2009.

300 – Lasith Malinga became the 13th player and the 4th Sri Lankan to take 300 wickets in ODI cricket. He is the 5th fastest among the 13 players to take 300 ODI wickets.

375/5 – India’s total of 375/5 in this game is their highest ODI total in Sri Lanka and the highest for any team in Sri Lanka against Sri Lanka. India scored 363/5 at this venue in 2009. Only Sri Lanka’s 398/5 against Kenya in 1996 and Pakistan’s 385/7 against Bangladesh in 2010 are higher totals in ODIs in Sri Lanka than India’s 375.

400 – India became the first team to record 400 100-run partnerships in ODI cricket. The century partnership between Manish Pandey and MS Dhoni is the 400th century stand for India in ODIs.

467 – MS Dhoni became the most capped wicketkeeper in International cricket after featuring in this game. He went past Mark Boucher who played 466 International matches as a wicketkeeper.
