The rain-affected ODI series is set to conclude in Colombo on Tuesday as Sri Lanka will play for pride. England have already sealed the series with the 3-0 lead and it looks imperative that they will extend the lead. They would also give a chance to their benched players and see how they respond. The hosts, on the other hand, will take heart from the fact they bring their A game in the dead rubbers like they did against South Africa.

Eoin Morgan’s men have managed to sneak ahead every time the rain has stopped the play. They were put in some kind of a trouble in the previous game during the chase and the encounter could’ve gone down the wire only for the rain to play spoilsport. The visitors would love to make it 4-0 going into the one-off T20I in order to stamp their authority over the opponents.

Dinesh Chandimal was disappointed after the third match as he felt that they were in with a great chance to win it. Though he will be positive with the way the likes of Dasun Shanaka and Niroshan Dickwella have fared and hope that the others also put their hand up in the fifth and final game of the series.

Pitch and Weather

The chances of rain hampering the game are high as the temperatures will hover around 28 Degrees Celsius. There are 50 percent chances of the clouds opening up and the game could be called off at any stage. Sri Lanka will have to be on their toes throughout and afford a blip if they want to avoid 4-0. The pitch seems to be good for batting which has been the norm this season in the island nation.

Team Combinations

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka will play the same side it seems after the way they played in Pallekele. Niroshan Dickwella and Sadeera Samrawickrama will open the innings while Dinesh Chandimal, Shanaka and Perera along with Dhanajaya de Silva will look to make the most of the platform. It remains to be seen if Kusal Mendis will get an extended run once again. The bowling attack looks settled as the spinners have done a fair job and same is the case with the fast bowlers.

Probable XI: Sadeera Samarawickrama, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Dinesh Chandimal (c), Upul Tharanga/Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Thisara Perera, Akila Dananjaya, Amila Aponso, Lasith Malinga, Kasun Rajitha.

England

England might make some changes to their line-up for this game. While the batsmen might get another go with rain marring most of their outings, the bowling department is likely to wear a new look. Chris Woakes and Olly Stone might make way for Liam Plunkett and Mark Wood while there is also a possibility of Sam Curran getting his opportunity.

Probable XI: Jason Roy/Joe Denly, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (c), Ben Stokes, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (wk), Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett, Mark Wood/Sam Curran, Tom Curran.

Probable Top Performers

Dinesh Chandimal – Sri Lanka | Alex Hales – England

Broadcast Details

TV – Sony Six and Sony Six HD

The prediction is for Sri Lanka to pull one back on the tourists in the final ODI.
