Several cricket pundits keep talking about batting depth. As a matter of fact, one of the major reasons behind England’s success in limited-overs is their batting depth. Now taking about India, this has always been something which had mixed opinions.

Generally, when you have someone like Ravindra Jadeja in the side, the issue of batting depth is sorted. However, without him what does India do? Do they pick a batting all-rounder or pick a proper pacer instead? As mentioned earlier, Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are most likely to feature in the XI with at least one proper spinner.

Thus, this leaves India with the option of playing the third pacer in the form of Saini or Sakariya or play an all-rounder like Krunal Pandya or Krishnappa Gowtham at 7. Another important point to be noted is that Hardik Pandya isn’t fully fit to bowl his full quota of overs in a game. Thus, this is going to be one of the biggest selections dilemmas for India in this series against Sri Lanka.
