He turned his responsibility into a successful note by leading his side to a series win against Australia with calm composure captaincy. With this win, Rahane became only the 9th Indian captain to lead the team to a win on captaincy debut.

Rahane’s first games as captain in ODI and T20I formats too resulted in wins for India as he became the 2nd Indian after Virender Sehwag and only the 6th in overall to register a win in the first game as captain in all the 3 formats.
