The Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have enjoyed playing together ever since they have been opening the innings for India. The first time the duo played together was in 2013 during the ICC Champions Trophy when the former was promoted up the order which eventually has revolutionised his career. However, the duo has now added 12 century stands at the top for India and are fourth on the list of the most hundred partnership by the openers.
Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar top the charts with 21 century partnerships while opening in as many as 136 innings. The Australian duo of Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden have done it 16 times in 114 matches to go with 29 half-century stands as well. While the current Indian pair has notched up 12 such stands in only 68 innings which is quicker and they have also been part of 9 half-century partnerships together.
Most hundred partnerships by openers
Dhawan and Rohit Sharma equalled the record of Virender Sehwag and Tendulkar who had also added more than hundred runs while batting together 12 times in 76 attempts. The likes of Hashim Amla and Quinton De Kock are chasing them with 10 century stands but they have already taken more number of matches than the Indian duo.
Among Indian pairs for any wicket
Among the Indian cricketers, the pair stands at the third position when it comes to century partnerships for any wicket. The dream pair of Sachin and Sourav have done it 26 times in 176 innings and top the charts in this statistics as well and hence are touted to be the most successful pair for India. Nobody is even near to them as Sehwag and Sachin are the next with 13 hundred-run partnerships.
100-partnerships in ODIs for India
Dhawan and Virat Kohli have also enjoyed batting together a lot and are fourth on the list with the pair of MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh also follow them. Though Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are climbing up the ladder quickly and would love to continue in the same vein for the team.
