Stats: Chattogram Challengers and Cumilla Warriors combine to aggregate 460 runs in a BPL match

For the 2nd time in the space of three days, the Chattogram Challengers came up with a power-packed performance against the Comilla Warriors. This time, they finished with 238/4 in their 20 overs as Chadwick Walton (71* off 27 balls) and captain Imrul Kayes (62 off 41 balls) scored big fifties.

In reply, the Cumilla Warriors kept losing wickets but they also kept the scorecard ticking. Dawid Malan played the key role in that as he struck 84 from only 38 balls with 10 boundaries. Small contributions from the middle and lower-order helped the Warriors reach 222/7 and narrow down the losing margin to 16 runs.

All the statistical highlights from the record-breaking match between Challengers and Warriors:

460 – The 460 runs collectively scored by Challengers and Warriors make this match the highest aggregated Twenty20 match on Bangladesh soil. The previous most runs scored in a T20 game in Bangladesh was 426 runs during the match on Wednesday night between the Challengers and Dhaka Platoon. The Challengers-Warriors match is overall the 12th highest aggregated match in the history of Twenty20 cricket.


238/4 – The total of 238/4 by Chattogram Challengers is the 2nd highest total in the Twenty20 format in Bangladesh. The highest is 239/4 by Rangpur Riders against Chittagong Vikings during the 2018-19 BPL.


222/7 – Cumilla Warriors’ total of 222/7 is now the 4th highest T20 total on the Bangladesh soil. This is also the highest total in Bangladesh during a T20 chase surpassing the 209/7 by Barisal Burners. The Barisal team scored 209 against Duronto Rajshahi in reply to the target of 214 during the BPL 2012-13.


99* – Chadwick Walton and Nurul Hasan shared an unbeaten 99-run stand for the 5th wicket in only 40 deliveries. It is the 3rd highest stand for the 5th or lower wicket in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Anamul Haque and Mohammad Nabi added 106 for the 5th wicket in the 2016-17 season against Rajshahi Kings while Ravi Bopara and Nahidul Islam shared 100 also for the 5th wicket in 2017-18 edition against the Khulna Titans.


262.96 – Chadwick Walton’s unbeaten 27-ball 71 came at a strike rate of 262.96; the 2nd highest batting SR for any player in an innings in the Bangladesh Premier League. (Min: 25 balls faced) Thisara Perera scored an unbeaten 74 from 26 balls by striking at 284.61 for the Comilla Victorians in the last season’s match against the Chittagong Vikings.

Towards the end of the match, Abu Hider had a strike rate of 280 as he scored 28* off 10 balls for the Warriors. It is the 3rd highest SR in a BPL inning of 25+ runs and the highest for a Bangladesh player.


312 – A total of 312 runs came through boundaries in this match – 42 fours and 24 sixes; the first-ever Twenty20 match hosted by Bangladesh with 300+ boundary runs. Both Challengers and Warriors hit 21 fours and 12 sixes each in this match.

The 2018-19 BPL match between Chittagong Vikings and Khulna Titans and this week’s game between Chattogram Challengers and Dhaka Platoon recorded 284 runs being scored through boundaries; the previous most boundary runs in a T20 match on Bangladesh soil.


5035 – Dawid Malan completed 5000 runs in the Twenty20 format when he crossed his individual score of 49. He became the 11th player from England to reach the milestone.
