Stats: Fastest to 1000 runs in the ICC ODI events

Shikhar Dhawan labelled as an ICC ODI tournament bully, has played according to the expectations by scoring fifties in all the three games of the league stage in Champions Trophy 2017 which includes a century as well. The Indian opener now has 634 runs in the Champions Trophy in just 8 innings; standing at No.6 in the highest run-scorers list in CT at the end of the game against South Africa.

Adding the 412 runs in the ICC World Cup to this tally, Dhawan now has 1046 runs in the ICC ODI events. He became the 35th player and 6th Indian to score 1000 runs in ICC ODI events. Virat Kohli later became the 36th player and 7th Indian to reach the milestone.

Dhawan needed just 16 innings to complete 1000 runs in the ICC ODI events; the fastest to complete the milestone. He broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record, who took 18 innings to get there. Mark Waugh, Sourav Ganguly and Herschelle Gibbs stand at No.3 in the list of batsmen fastest to 1000 runs in ICC ODI events as they all needed 20 innings.
