Stats: Fastest centuries in T20 cricket

Rishabh Pant has smashed a century off just 32 balls for Delhi against Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. His knock helped his team chase down the total of 144 runs in the 12th over and have also qualified for the next round. Pant remained unbeaten on 116 off just 38 deliveries, the innings which was studded with 8 fours and as many as 12 sixes.

However, his ton is also the second fastest in the history of the shortest format of the game. Delhi won by 10 wickets on the back of Pant’s knock as Gautam Gambhir supported him well with 30* off 33 deliveries.

Chris Gayle tops the charts in this list undoubtedly as he had launched an assault on Pune Warriors India (PWI) and scored a ton off just 30 balls way back in 2013. He also went on to score 175,  the highest individual score ever in T20 cricket ever.

The former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds is also amongst the fastest centurions in T20 cricket. He had smashed a ton off 34 balls against Middlesex in 2004 in the domestic T20 tournament in England. Rohit Sharma, the Hitman of India recently equalled the fastest T20I century against Sri Lanka. He literally annihilated the team from island nation and reached the three-figure mark in mere 35 deliveries. He was in such a mood on the day that even the double hundred was possible for him.

David Miller from South Africa is the other batsman in this list who also holds the same record with Rohit Sharma. He tore apart the bowling attack of Bangladesh at home and entered into the record books.

For now, it is Rishabh Pant who is trending after a sensational knock for his stateside. Moreover, this innings also strengthens the decision of Delhi Daredevils who retained him for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). The young left-hander has been rated highly for a long time and is reaping rewards now justifying the faith shown in him by his fans and experts.
