Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor put on one of the greatest batting displays in Women’s cricket as they tore the South African bowling apart in the Women’s World Cup game, a bowling attack which is considered to be the best in the tournament.
After a couple of failures, Sarah returned to form in the previous game with a fifty against Sri Lanka, her first fifty since returning to International cricket. The confidence thoroughly reflected during the innings as she paced her innings brilliantly with some attacking shots. Sarah brought up her fifty in 49 balls and took 31 balls further to complete her century and eventually fell after scoring 147 off just 104 balls; her highest ODI score.
Beaumont on the other hand calmly made an impact by anchoring the innings still scoring at a healthy rate while Sarah was taking on the opposition bowlers. She brought up her century in 118 balls and finally fell after scoring 148 off 156 balls, one run more than Sarah.
They both together put on a stand of 275 in just 209 balls for the 2nd wicket after Lauren Winfield fell after sharing a 59-run opening stand with Beaumont. Thus with this stand, the Beaumont-Sarah pair broke the record for the highest partnership in Women’s World Cup history which was held by New Zealand pair Suzie Bates and Haidee Tiffen with the 262-run stand against Pakistan in 2009.
