A brilliant batting display by the Bangladesh headed by Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim’s stand helped the visitors record their maiden 300+ total in ODIs over England in the Champions Trophy 2017 opening game. The pair put on 166 for the 3rd wicket in just 151 balls and pushed the run-rate up.
Tamim scored 128 while Rahim scored 79 before both got out on consecutive balls after taking the total to 261 in 45th over. The stand between the two is now the 5th highest for Bangladesh in ODIs for any wicket and the 3rd highest for the 3rd wicket. The highest for any wicket and the 3rd wicket in ODIs for Bangladesh is also on the name of Tamim-Rahim pair as they both shared a 178-run stand vs Pakistan in 2015 at Dhaka.
This is overall the 11th 150+ partnership for the Bangladeshi side in the 50-over format and two of those are held by Tamim and Rahim. The stand in this game is the first time Bangladeshi batsmen crossed 150 runs in a partnership outside Asia and only the 2nd outside home in ODI cricket.
