Yuvraj Singh became the first player in International cricket to feature in 7 finals of ICC tournaments by playing in the Champions Trophy 2017 final against Pakistan at The Oval. He also became only the 3rd player to feature in 3 different Champions Trophy finals.

Yuvraj featured in the 2000 Champions Trophy final in which he made his International debut and later in the 2002 edition as well. Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Brian Lara are the other two players who featured in 3 Champions Trophy finals as they both played in the 1998, 2004 and 2006 editions in which West Indies played the finale.

Prior to this game, Yuvraj was at levels with Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene by playing 6 tournament finals. Ponting featured in 4 consecutive World Cup finals from 1996 to 2007 and 2006, 2009 Champions Trophy finals. The Sri Lankan duo of Sangakkara and Jayawardene together featured in 6 tournament finals for their nation between 2002 and 2014.

Talking about players who played most number of ICC tournament finals, MS Dhoni stands behind Yuvraj as the 2017 Champions Trophy final will be the 5th he will be playing. Dhoni featured in 2007 and 2014 World T20 and the final of the 2011 World Cup. He also featured in the 2013 Champions Trophy final. Dhoni acted as captain in all the previous 4 finals and this will be the first ICC tournament final for him as a player.

Virat Kohli, the Indian captain in this game and opener Rohit Sharma are playing in their 4th ICC tournament final; joint 3rd most for India along with Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh.
