Imam-ul-Haq, the Habib Bank Limited team’s opener struck an unbeaten double century in the 2nd innings of the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam trophy final against Water and Power Development Authority at Karachi. Imam thus became only the 9th player to score a double century in the Quaid-e-Azam tournament’s final.

The 21-year-old right-hander helped his team to post 485/1 in the 2nd innings after WAPDA took a lead of 42 runs in the first innings. Imam shared a 303-run opening stand with Fakhar Zaman who struck 170 off 238 before holing out. Ahmed Shehzad, who walked out to bat at No.3 scored an unbeaten 104 in 137 balls to add quick runs and set a 444-run target for WAPDA.

Imam-ul-Haq, the nephew of former Pakistan skipper and legend Inzamam-ul-Haq batted for 364 balls and struck 14 fours and a six.

Notes:

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan scored double tons in the same season but Rizwan did so while playing in the Gold league final. Babar scored it in the Silver league final.

Asif Mujtaba and Mahmood Hamid scored 208 each in the 1994/95 season final in the same innings.

The only 250+ scores in Quaid-e-Azam trophy history finals -Babar Azam’s 266 and Imtiaz Ahmed’s 251 came in losing cause. Babar’s SBP side conceded first innings lead while Imtiaz’s team lost outright.
