Every budding cricketer dreams to represent their national team, their ultimate moment will be playing in any of the ICC tournaments, the biggest tournaments in the sport and put out their best. Very few players have achieved their dreams while few ended up making multiple appearances.
The ongoing Champions Trophy is witnessing players playing an ICC tournament (CWC, CT and WT20) for the record times. This CT will be the 14th ICC event in which the India’s veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh makes an appearance as he featured in 3 World Cups, 6 World T20s and 4 Champions Trophies so far. He was in the Indian squad in 2009 but was ruled out from the tournament later due to an injury which means this CT will be his first after 11 years.
Another Indian player, the ex-captain MS Dhoni has featured in 12 ICC events so far and is getting ready for his 13th appearance. Dhoni has featured in 3 World Cups, 6 World T20s and 3 times in Champions Trophy before this. The South African captain, AB de Villiers too made his 13th ICC event appearance by leading his side against Sri Lanka. This CT was the 4th in which ABD has featured; he has represented South Africa in 3 World Cups and 6 World T20s.
In the 2nd game of the tournament, Ross Taylor made his 12th ICC tournament appearance while Lasith Malinga did the same by playing against South Africa. Shoaib Malik will also feature in his 12th ICC event as he is expected to play against India in his team’s opening game of the tournament.
