Stats: Players with the most man of the match awards in Test cricket since 2014

Moeen Ali's performances in the Basil D’Oliveira series earned him the maiden man of the series award in Test cricket.

Moeen Ali had a series to remember forever against South Africa as he picked 25 wickets at an impressive average of 15.64 in the recently concluded home series. His contribution wasn’t restricted with the ball as he scored 252 runs at an average of 36 while batting in middle and lower order. His performances in the Basil D’Oliveira series earned him the maiden man of the series award in Test cricket.

An unbeaten 75 in the second innings which was followed by a 5-wicket haul at Old Trafford in the final Test earned Moeen Ali a man of the match award, his fifth in this format. He bagged the man of the match award in the first Test at the Lord’s as well, where he picked up 10 wickets in the game following his 87 in the first innings.

Since his Test debut in June 2014 against Sri Lanka, only Steve Smith (6) has received more match awards in Test cricket than Moeen. Only four other players have received as many as five match awards in this format. Among England players, Moeen Ali is tied with Joe Root who also have 5 match awards in this period.
