One of the best spinners in the world right now, Rashid Khan recorded his best-ever bowling performance in T20 cricket as he took 6/17 playing for Adelaide Strikers against Brisbane Heat in the 46th match of the Big Bash League 2021/22 in Brisbane. He bowled 14 dot balls in his spell of four overs as he tormented the Heat batting line-up to snatch a victory for his team by 71 runs.

It’s the first time that the Afghan spin wizard has taken six wickets in an innings in T20 matches as his previous best bowling figures read as five wickets for three runs in just two overs spell in a T20 international against Ireland in Greater Noida in the year 2017. Notably, the spin magician had bowled a triple-wicket maiden as well in that encounter against the Irishmen. His third-best performance came in the PSL 2021 where he achieved figures of 5/20 playing for Lahore Qalandars against Peshawar Zalmi.

The Ireland team faced trouble from Khan’s spin bowling again when the 23-year old leggie spun his web to record his fourth-best figures of 5/27 in a T20I at Dehradun in 2019. Already a legend in T20 cricket, the Afghanistan spin magician secured his fifth-best spell of 4/9 in the T20 World Cup 2021 against Scotland at Sharjah.

With his mind-blowing spell of 6/17, Khan is now joint-third with Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi and Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for mustering four five-wicket hauls in T20 cricket. David Wiese and Lasith Malinga are in the top two for snaring six and five such hauls respectively. Speaking of the spinners, Khan is now joint-top with Shakib for taking four five-fors in T20 matches.

Imran Tahir, Adam Zampa, and Tom Smith are joint-second for taking five-fors three times. The spin wizard also became the first bowler to take 15 plus wickets in each of his first five Big Bash seasons. Playing in his 300th T20 match, Rashid Khan certainly made his triple century appearance memorable by dominating the match, which was also his last BBL game this season. Take a bow, T20 bowling legend !!!
