Pakistan are currently ranked number one in T20Is as they have won 10 consecutive series under skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. They have been dominant in all the departments, batting, bowling and fielding owing to which they have been a tough nut to crack. Recently, they played a three-match T20I series against Australia and slapped their opponents with a 3-0 whitewash.
Barring the second match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium where swashbuckling batsman Glenn Maxwell almost took the match away from the Men in Green with a half-century, Sarfraz’s men were clinical in the other two matches. While they comprehensively won the first match by 66 runs, they completed the whitewash with a 33-run victory in Dubai.
Another record for Sarfraz and Co
The top-ranked T20I team is now scheduled to play a three-match series against New Zealand, which gets underway today at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In the meantime, Pakistan also have the distinction of bowling the opposition out for the most number of times (30) in T20Is. They bowled Australia out two out of three times in the previous series.
As far as picking up ten wickets are considered, Pakistan are way ahead as the next best-Australia and New Zealand, having achieved the feat on 19 instances. Sri Lanka and South Africa are teams that have bowled their rivals out on 18 instances. The Pakistani bowlers were exceptional during the Australia series with Shadab Khan being the leading wicket-taker with six wickets.
Left-arm spinner Imad Wasim also nipped out four wickets and didn’t concede too many runs either. Teenage sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi also got four wickets in the two matches he played. The likes of Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali also did their bit with the ball. For the time being, Pakistan would be hoping to continue their dominant run against the Black Caps.
