Just like the batsmen in the Champions Trophy who are yet to hit big, the bowlers too haven’t inflicted major damage so far as the 7 editions of the tournament. It has witnessed only one 6-wicket haul and only one hat-trick from the bowlers. Though there isn’t much difference among the top bowlers in the CT, the New Zealand pacer, Kyle Mills has taken 28 wickets, 4 more than the next on the list.
Muttiah Muralitharan stands at 2nd spot with 24 wickets while another Sri Lankan, Lasith Malinga shares the 3rd spot with Aussie fast bowler Brett Lee with 22 wickets apiece. The 5th spot too was shared with Glenn McGrath and James Anderson with 21 wickets each.
Jacques Kallis is one of the 7 bowlers with 20 wickets in the Champions Trophy so far as he picked exactly 20 scalps in the 17 games he featured. Kallis, in fact, is the only player to be a part of top 10 wicket-takers and top 10 run-getters in the tournament.
West Indian pacer Mervyn Dillon picked up 19 wickets in just 7 outings at a brilliant average of 16.68 and an exemplary strike-rate of 21.4 as he stands at 8th among the leading wicket-takers in the CT.
