The T20 Blast is well known for the high-scoring encounters which were finally witnessed as Yorkshire pummeled a record total of 255/2 against Leicestershire at the Grace Road. The Yorkshire skipper Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored an unbeaten 96 and shared century partnerships with Adam Lyth (69) and Nicholas Pooran (67) for the first two wickets.

Leicestershire didn’t have any major contributions and partnerships but did finish 201/4 to narrow down the losing margin. In the other game played at The Oval, Dawid Malan smashed 57-ball 117 to push Middlesex’s total to 209/3 despite their slowdown in the second half. Surrey finished with only 172/9 as their chase got underway with openers getting out cheaply.

All the stats and records that were recorded during the run-fest day in T20 Blast:

1 – Yorkshire became the first team in the Twenty20 history to amass two totals of 250 and more. They posted 260/4 in the 2017 edition of T20 Blast against Northamptonshire. The closest to this feat is Royal Challengers Bangalore and Australia who have posted totals of 263 and 248 thus far.

1 – Each of Yorkshire’s top-three batsmen scored 67 or more runs each in this game; the first-ever instance of three scores of 60+ runs in a Twenty20 innings  – Adam Lyth (69), Tom Kohler-Cadmore (96*) and Nicholas Pooran (67).

The closest occurrence was recorded by Andhra in Syed Mushtaq Ali 2019 against Manipur. Andhra’s openers scored 71 apiece while their No.4 batsman Ricky Bhui scored 59. Back in the 2007 WT20, India’s top three scored at least 58 runs each during the game against England.

6 – Yorkshire’s innings is only the 6th in Twenty20 cricket with two century partnerships. In fact, this is only the 2nd time any team had 100-run stands for their first two wickets in a Twenty20. Yorkshire was also the first team to record this instance when they posted 260/4 against Northamptonshire in 2017.

19 – Yorkshire hit 19 sixes in this game; the 2nd most by a team in an England Domestic T20 match and also the 2nd most sixes hit in a Twenty20 innings in England. Essex hit as many as 20 sixes in the last week’s game against Surrey in Chelmsford.

31 – A total of 31 sixes were hit by both the teams in this game – 19 by Yorkshire and 12 by Leicestershire. This is only the 2nd time 30 or more sixes were hit in a Twenty20 on England soil. As many as 31 sixes were hit during the last week’s 15-over match between Essex and Surrey in Chelmsford.

255/2 – Yorkshire’s total of 255/2 in this game is the 2nd highest team total in English Domestic T20 and also the 2nd highest Twenty20 total in England. The highest is recorded by Yorkshire when they finished with 260/4 against Northampton in 2017. Yorkshire’s total is also the highest for the loss of two or fewer wickets in a T20. Karachi Dolphins posted 243/2 in the 2010 Domestic Cup game against Lahore Eagles.

117 – Dawid Malan’s 117 against Surrey at The Oval is the 2nd highest individual Twenty20 score for Middlesex. Daniel Christian scored 129 against Kent back in the 2014 edition of the tournament.
