Veteran women’s cricketer, Bismah Maroof, had Hasan Ali’s back after the fast bowler couldn’t live up to expectations in Pakistan’s semi-final against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2021. On Thursday, November 11 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the speedster had a rough day as he conceded 44 runs in four overs and couldn’t pick up a single wicket.
The miseries didn’t end for him there. In the final over, he dropped a catch of Matthew Wade and denied Shaheen Shah Afridi a crucial wicket. Wade went on to smash Afridi for three sixes in a row and helped the Aussies win by five wickets with six balls to spare.
However, Maroof supported Hasan Ali and lauded him for showing a great amount of energy on the field. She also backed the seamer to make a strong comeback in the future.
She took to Twitter and wrote, “Dear @RealHa55an, we’ve seen you making Pakistan proud at the highest level. We know your passion for this game and our country Pakistan. Your energy and presence on the field have always been remarkable. Stay strong Champion and make a great comeback insha’Allah,”

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra also supported Hasan Ali after the latter dropped the crucial catch. Moreover, he had words of praises for Babar Azam and Co, who won all their five matches in the Super 12 before losing in the semis.
Chopra wrote, “Well played Pak You should be extremely proud of your campaign. Plenty of positives. But the people in Pakistan must also remember that nobody drops a catch on purpose. It’s the better team on the night that wins the match. What needs fixing is your mindset. #T20WorldCup.”
In the meantime, Babar said that his team would keep giving Hasan Ali confidence to make a comeback. “Yes, he is a bit down. We will keep backing him and giving him confidence. People will say a lot of things, but we are behind him,” Babar was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.
Hasan picked up five wickets from six games in the T20 World Cup in the UAE, but leaked runs at an expensive economy rate of nine.
