Australian skipper showered praise on Pakistan’s ace bowler Mohammad Amir. In an interview with the CricketCountry, Smith quoted that Amir could well be the main threat for the Australian team in the upcoming series. Australia will host Pakistan for 3 Tests and 5 ODIs in the next six weeks. The first Test kicks off at the Gabba, Brisbane on December 15.

Steve Smith reflected back at how Mohammad Amir had impressed when Pakistan last toured Australia in 2010. He remarked that Amir constantly clocked speeds of 145 and 150 during the tour. Later when Amir toured England, he changed his hand movement in order to get a lot more swing. Thus it is evident that Mohammad Amir is a keen learner of the game.

Praising the Pakistani speedster, Steve Smith quoted, “He’s a quality bowler. He’s got some great skills. He bowls with really good pace and can swing the ball.” “It’s great to have those sort of gears and those skills so no doubt he could potentially be a handful if it’s swinging around. I guess the extra bounce can play in your favour as a spin bowler at the Gabba, but it can also play against you,” he added further.

Earlier, former Australian cricketer Michael Hussey had also showered heavy praise for the Pakistani pacer. “He’s an outstanding talent. I know he’s been through a lot in a short career really, but I’m personally happy to see him back playing international cricket. I feel like he’s done his time and he’s a class bowler. Again, he’s someone that bowls extremely well with the new ball but is also very good with the old ball as well,” Mike Hussey had quoted.

“We’ve always thought that the Pakistanis have amazingly talented players. They always seem to come onto the scene and you think, ‘Wow, this guy’s unbelievable’, and Mohammad Amir was no different. He was young, talented, keen to do well, passionate sort of guy. It was a shame he had to go through that tough period but hopefully, he comes back bigger and better,” Hussey had remarked in a conversation with cricket.com.au.
