Following the allegations of the charge of ball-tampering in the third Test between Australia and South Africa in Cape Town, there are many calling for the head of Aussie skipper Steve Smith and his aide in the crime – Cameron Bancroft. The massive outburst from the cricketing fraternity on the likes of Steve Smith and company has left a massive stain on Australian cricket as we know it, something that, as many have said it, would be very difficult for one to recover from.

However, despite all that, there are a few who have come out in the defense of the incumbent Australian skipper stating that he ought to continue playing international cricket. The latest of the same has been former England skipper Michael Vaughan. While the latter certainly condones the actions of Smith and Bancroft, he believes that banning the 28-year old and preventing him from playing international and competitive cricket is indeed a step too far.

While Vaughan took to Twitter to make his voice on the skipper heard, former Aussie skipper Michael Clarke seemed to have emotions running rather high, something that was apparent on television. Even the Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull came out and stated that it was indeed a disgrace to the sport and the fact that an Australian cricket captain was involved in the same.
