Aussie captain Steve Smith offered a round of beer to his IPL teammate Ajinkya Rahane and the other Team India members after the end of the keenly contested four-match Test series which ended in Dharamsala with India winning the match and the series by a 2-1 margin to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Smith who apologised to the whole media for letting his emotions get the better of him reached out to Rahane asking him and his teammates for a round of beer. Rahane who captained India for the very first time in the decisive encounter showed a lot of maturity in handling his troops in the decisive Test at Dharamsala.

“I said (to Rahane) see you next week, he’s in my team for the IPL, I asked if he wanted us to come in for a drink being at the end of the series. He said he’d get back to me. With Ajinkya, we get on well. He’s in my IPL team so I’ll be with him for the next few weeks,” Smith was quoted as saying by the ABC Grandstand.

It’s a part of the Australian culture where they offer to their rival team members after the conclusion of any bilateral series. While Smith sounded apologetic for his off-field deeds, Indian skipper Virat Kohli let his emotions flow as he made it pretty clear that he won’t keep any friendship with the Aussie cricketers in the future. Aussie media slammed him for his comments calling it childish.

“No, it (the friendship equation with the Aussies) has changed for sure. I thought that was the case but it has changed for sure. As I said in the heat of the battle, you want to be competitive but yeah I have been proven wrong. The thing I said before the first Test, I have certainly been proven wrong and you won’t hear me say that ever again.”Kohli was quoted as saying by Times of India.
