Steven Finn’s struggle with injuries continues as he withdrew himself from the upcoming tournament in India with a left calf problem. Finn was ruled out of the final Test and the one-day series of England’s South African tour with a side injury. The right arm fast bowler was however named in the England World Twenty20 squad and was given a week before next month’s event in India to prove his fitness. However, it seems that he hasn’t fully recovered.

Liam Plunkett, the 30-year-old Yorkshire fast bowler, who was kept as a standby for Finn, has been named as his replacement in the 15 man squad. He was in the England squad for the T20 series of the South Africa tour, but did not play in any game. Plunkett will now shoulder the responsibility of leading the pace attack which comprises of Chris Jordan, Reece Topley, Davis Willey and all rounder Ben Stokes.

England is already without Stuart Broad, their best bowler. Broad, who was a part of the 2010 World T20 winning side, was omitted by coach Trevor Bayliss from the World T20 to keep him fresh ahead of a busy spell of Test cricket.

Eoin Morgan’s young team leaves for India on March 8 and will start their campaign against West Indies. They will then face Sri Lanka, South Africa, and a qualifier in the group stage.

England Squad: Eoin Morgan (C), Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Liam Dawson, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, James Vince, David Willey.
