Stuart Binny to join Indian team ahead of second Test: Stuart Binny, is all set to join the Indian team ahead of the second Test match in the ongoing 3-Test series against Sri Lanka. The 2nd match to be played at Colombo starts from Thursday. Binny’s inclusion was confirmed by the Board Of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on their Twitter handle.

Binny, a medium pace-bowler and lower middle-order batsman, has played 3 Tests, all on India’s tour to England in mid 2014. While he failed to pick up a wicket in any of those games, he scored an impressive 78 in his debut Test, in Nottingham, to help India draw the match. He averages 23 with the bat in the format and will be hoping to improve upon those numbers.

India are currently 0-1 down in the series following their embarrassing 63-run loss at Galle. No official word has been given as a reason to his sudden inclusion or who he is actually replacing in the side.

Some players of the Indian team were suffering from some minor niggles before and on the course of the First Test. Murali Vijay missed the match due to a hamstring injury while Shikhar Dhawan was being treated for an injured arm after he dropped a catch on the first day.

However, according to reports, there are no injuries to any of the players and he has only been added to the 15-man squad. Binny has been India’s mainstay all-rounder in the other two formats. However, he has got only limited number of opportunities in the longest form of the game. So this time around, Binny would be raring to go and will look to make optimum use of the priced opportunity that has knocked his doors. He has the distinction of having registered the best bowling figures for India in the limited overs format. He achieved his figures of 6/4 on 17 June 2014 against Bangladesh.
