Jasprit Bumrah has been like an unplayable bowler for the West Indies team in the ongoing Test series of the ICC World Test Championship. The Indian right-arm pacer has been amongst the wickets in both the Tests and landed himself in record books with his feats in the Jamaica Test match. Bumrah picked six wickets in the first Test and has taken six in the second as well.

In Antigua Test, Bumrah returned the figures of 5/7 in the second innings, helping India register a massive 318-run victory. This stunning performance was enough to down the morale of the opposition batting, but Bumrah rubbed salt into wounds in the first innings of the second Test, as he picked 6/27, which included an amazing hat-trick also. Bumrah became the third Indian bowler to achieve this feat after Harbhajan Singh in 2001 and Irfan Pathan in 2006.

Jasprit Bumrah removed Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks and Roston Chase in three consecutive deliveries, with Chase’s wicket coming via DRS review. This was also the third hat-trick in which the final victim was adjudged out by DRS, after Rangana Herath and Moeen Ali’s feats. An image of Jasprit Bumrah with his hands on his face in disbelief after securing the historical record went viral on social media.

Stuart Broad shared his own reaction which was similar to Bumrah’s after he had dismantled Australia for 60 runs in the 2015 Ashes Test at the Nottingham, with the England bowler returning unbelievable figures of 8/15 and helping his team win the Test by an innings and 78 runs. Broad’s ‘happy facepalm’ expression after taking the wicket of Australia’s Adam Voges had gone viral.
