Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt seemed highly impressed with India’s veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Wridhimman Saha for his act of sportsmanship and couldn’t stop himself from showering praises on the 36-year-old. As India is heading towards the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand, there is a big debate surrounding the first-choice wicketkeeper for the Indian side.

Recently, Saha detailed his opinion on the keeper for the Indian team saying that the young Rishabh Pant deserves to take the gloves in England as he has delivered many match-defining performances for the team in the recent past. Saha added that he will just patiently be in the background and will wait for an opportunity to come his way.

There is no doubt to the fact that Pant is in blistering form in the purest format of the game and has emerged as the backbone of India’s middle-order. The Southpaw was the highest run-getter for India in the four-match Test series against Australia. The 23-year-old carried his stunning form in the Test series against England too and grabbed headlines by emerging as the third-highest run-getter.

The statement given by Saha regarding Pant fetched him a lot of applause from the cricket fraternity. Salman Butt posted a video on his YouTube channel lauding the veteran keeper for giving a big statement and proving himself as a true professional.

“Such things come out when you are true professionals. This is not an easy thing. Hats off to Wriddhiman Saha. I know him, we played together for the Knight Riders in the inaugural IPL. He is a very down-to-earth guy and he has said a fantastic thing. It shows his nobility, that he has spoken like that,” said Butt.

I see this as a very very positive sign for Indian cricket: Salman Butt

Further, the former Pakistan skipper seemed highly impressed with India’s team management and their policies for making the players feel secure. Salman credited Indian for making a system where every player thinks about what is beneficial for the team before their personal achievements.

“I see this as a very very positive sign for Indian cricket. This means whatever systems and policies they have, they have been successful to a large extent that their players don’t feel insecure. When you don’t feel insecure and you don’t have hesitation in saying what is better for the team, that means your system, policies and grooming have won because you realize that you are also there but at the moment the other person is better and should play,” signed off Butt.
