Rohit Sharma owned the third day of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval on Saturday with a brilliant 127-run knock. For the man of his calibre, it was only his first overseas century in the Test format having made his debut way back in 2013. It took some time for him to cement his place in the side and it happened after he started opening the innings in the format.

However, there were times when he was also ignored from the Test team and the man had once expressed his disappointment over the same. In July 2018, Rohit Sharma had indirectly tweeted about his exclusion from the Test side for the England tour.

“Sun will rise again tomorrow,” he had tweeted soon after India’s squad for the England tour was announced. He was clearly not a certainty in the Test team then given his poor record against the swinging red cherry. However, life came full circle for him on Saturday when in the same country (England) he recorded his maiden overseas ton of his Test career.

It didn’t take much time for the same tweet to go viral on social media. It resurfaced again after he crossed the 100-run mark on the third day of fourth Test.

Here’s the tweet:

Rohit Sharma has played most balls in the Test series

There were doubts about Rohit Sharma’s ability to play the swinging ball and especially in England where the ball tends to swing all the time. But the 34-year-old has responded with a bang to all his doubters and if one thing that has been consistent throughout the series for India then that has to be Rohit facing a lot of deliveries. He has now played the most balls in the series surpassing England skipper Joe Root.

He has battled toughest conditions every time with India batting first under overseas conditions three times in the first innings. And he deserved to enjoy some luck at the Oval on his way to a scintillating century. The man was so disappointed after getting out shows that he was hungry to convert it into a daddy hundred. Nevertheless, he has put India in a very good position for now.
