At a time when there’s no sporting action around the globe, several members of the cricket fraternity are serving fans with Instagram clips and Twitter Q&A sessions. A few personalities have also put out their Best XI in order to provide their fans with some entertainment. After the postponement of IPL 2020, all fans are eagerly waiting for another important event– T20 World Cup 2020– to commence according to its decided schedule.

Amid a time when everyone is disclosing their Best XI, popular Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has also revealed his Indian cricket team squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia. The actor, who is known for his fondness towards the game, revealed his squad during a chat show with former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra.

Suniel started off with naming two openers for the marquee event– Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. For the No.3 spot, Suniel picked the skipper of Team India, Virat Kohli. The Bollywood actor also mentioned that all the above-mentioned players are an indispensable part of the national side and hence, there’s no question over leaving them out.

For the middle-order, Suniel picked Shreyas Iyer, and former India captain MS Dhoni. He opined that Dhoni is a vital part of the side and he can’t see India without the Ranchi player. Coming on to the exclusion of Pant, Suniel said that he’s a supremely talented player but needs to lose 4-5 kilos of weight.

“As far as Pant goes, supremely talented player but I think Pant needs to lose 4-5 kilos of weight. It’s a positive thing that I mean to say, it’s not that I’m the god of cricket or the understanding of cricket, but as far as wellness and fitness goes one could see the difference in movement,” said Suniel.

For the all-rounders, Suniel went with Hardik Pandya, Vijay Shankar and Ravindra Jadeja. The actor also heaped praise on Jadeja and lauded his energy on the field along with his fielding brilliance. Suneil added that Jadeja is by no means a ‘bits and pieces’ player.

Suniel Shetty heaps praise on Mohammed Shami’s follow-through

“No, I don’t think he (Jadeja) is a ‘bits-n-pieces’ player because I count the enthusiasm of a player as well. It helps to gain confidence. Like Virat, his aggression and passion have changed the mindset of youngsters,” added Suniel.

Amongst spinners, Suniel picked the spin twins of the Indian side– Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.

Coming on to the pace attack, Suniel picked the quadruple of Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He also lauded Shami for his follow-through and tagged the pacer as a ‘dream bowler’.

“I think he (Shami) is brilliant, especially when he pitches the ball up. I haven’t seen a cleaner run in a follow-through also than Mohammed Shami. He is a dream bowler,” Suniel added further.
