West Indian spinner Sunil Narine was instrumental in Kolkata Knight Riders’ first Indian Premier League title triumph in 2012. The Caribbean mystery spinner had the ability to swing the ball both ways. But his world collapsed when in 2014 his bowling action was termed illegal as per the ICC‘s rule book. He was out of the game, remodel his action and finally made a comeback.

The only problem for Windies, KKR and the other teams he played for has been that he is no longer as effective as he used to be with his previous action. Yet, the fear factor was persistent in batters’ mind and Sunil was able to maintain a low economy rate. But a new door opened for him this year when KKR team management decided to make him an opener. The result? The 29-year old player scored the fastest fifty of this year’s IPL.

With his all-round abilities, various franchises from different leagues around the world are circling around him like sharks to get his signature on the piece of paper. A star-studded roster of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Dhaka Dynamites has added another star to their prestigious lineup. They have secured the services of the Trinidad & Tobago-born cricketer. But the announcement was made in a rather different way.

Their official Facebook page uploaded a feature of the player in blue colour but didn’t reveal the name. The challenge was given to the fans to make the guess. But with the spiky hairstyle, it is not very tough for any cricket enthusiast to identify Sunil Narine.

Their description of the player read – “Well-known for his spiky hairstyle! He can change the match flow anytime with his lethal off break. He first caught eye when he bagged all ten wickets in a trial match and immediately earned a call-up to the national team.”

Not only Sunny!

Dhaka Dynamites are currently dominating BPL. Out of the previous 4 editions, they have won 3. Bangladesh Export Import Company (BEXIMCO) group-owned franchise is known for spending huge money to buy the cream of the crop. For the 2017 season, they have already roped in three former yet influential players. Kumar Sangakkara, Shane Watson and Shahid Afridi are ready to bolster their squad.

Previously, Sunil was seen in BPL wearing Barisal Bulls’ and Comilla Victorians’ colours.
