Sunil Narine to rejoin KKR squad

Sunil Narine missed the first match of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ campaign to head back to Trinidad following the untimely death of his father. However, Narine will be back as the Knight Riders face up to the might of the Mumbai Indians on Wednesday. The Gautam Gambhir-led franchise cruised to victory over the Delhi Daredevils in the Eden Gardens thus ensuring that it was indeed a win that kick-started their season.

An undisclosed official from the KKR camp was quoted saying: “Narine is arriving tomorrow morning.”

However, the return of Narine has put the Knight Riders in a selection conundrum. The previous game saw the bowling unit include two spinners, Piyush Chawla, and Brad Hogg. And given the way they performed, it will certainly be difficult to leave them out of the side.

45-year old Brad Hogg has come out saying that the thought of being left out of the side in favor of Sunil Narine has indeed crossed his mind.  “I was a bit scared before the match because if and when Narine comes my chances to play would be less. So I tried my level best,” he has revealed.

Hogg replaced Narine mid-way through last season following the latter’s illegal bowling action. However, this time, around, Narine is ready to make his mark in the IPL after having his action cleared by the council.

Sunil Narine has been the most important bowler and quite understandably the most successful bowler for the Kolkata Knight Riders having claimed 74 wickets in the last four seasons of the IPL. It will certainly be a major shot in the arm for the Knight Riders to have him back in their bowling ranks.
