Central Stags are well behind the defending champions Northern Knights who have bagged 24 points from seven matches with six wins. Stags have 14 points from the six matches they played thus far with three wins and a washout. Despite the difference, they are 2nd in the points table as no other side has won more than two matches until now.

They will now face the struggling Canterbury Kings as they aim to move closer to the Knights. The Canterbury team is still waiting for their 2nd win of the season. They now have lost five of the six matches including their previous four. Since starting 2019 with a comfortable win over the Auckland Aces, the Canterbury team has been outplayed in every game.

Match Details:

The 20th match of the Super Smash T20 2018-19 will be played between Central Stags and Canterbury Kings at the McLean Park in Napier.

The match starts at 7:10 PM local time (6:10 AM GMT) (11:40 AM IST).

The game will be live on Star Sports Select 1 and Star Sports Select 1 HD. Streaming available on Hotstar.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The McLean Park in Napier hasn’t hosted many T20s but is usually a good track to bat on. During the fixture between the Stags and the Otago Volts last week, the hosts posted a huge total of 208/7. The short square boundaries help the batsmen score big. The new ball does a bit under the lights which put the chasing teams under pressure early on.

Average first innings score: 170 (Four Twenty20s since 2015)

Chasing team record: Won – 1, Lost – 3. (Four Twenty20s since 2015)

Team News:

Both teams are unchanged from their previous match.

Probable XI:

Central Stags:

Tom Bruce (C), Doug Bracewell, Josh Clarkson, Dane Cleaver, Dean Foxcroft, Ajaz Patel, Seth Rance, Blair Tickner, Ben Wheeler, George Worker, Will Young.

Bench – Willem Ludick

Canterbury Kings:

Cole Mcconchie (C), Chad Bowes, Leo Carter, Cameron Fletcher, Andrew Ellis, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Matt Henry, Todd Astle, Edward Nuttall, Henry Nicholls.

Power Picks:

Will Young started the tournament with scores of 1, 26 and 11 before making 43 and 33 in the previous two games. The Stags will be hoping that their opener will convert the starts more often. Young has the ability to make most of the field restrictions as was witnessed when he took on Otago Volts at Napier.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Will Young and Tom Bruce look ideal for the multiplier roles given their performances in the last match. Any all-rounder will suit these roles from this game especially someone like George Worker.

Expert Advice:

As many as six players from both the sides are present in the all-rounder’s category and picking three from them is a real headache. Canterbury’s trio is slightly more consistent compared to that of the Central Stags.
