Shimron Hetmyer is one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket at this stage. His positive approach towards batting has made him one of the more popular cricketers going around the world. When he arrived at the Super50 Cup 2021, the premier 50-over competition of the Caribbean Islands, there was a sense of excitement around the match.

In his very first match for Guyana Jaguars, Hetymer played a match-winning knock filled with entertainment. During the course of his knock, he played some astonishing shots. One of his shots went out of the park and landed just outside the stadium. On top of that, it actually reached and hit the boundary of a house which was located just adjacent to the beautiful Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua where the match was being played.

The incident happened in the 15th over of the match, when Barbados’ spinner Ashley Nurse was bowling to Hetymer. The left-handed batsman got a ball slightly short of a length and he took the opportunity. He got back and hit the ball over the covers boundary for a magnificent six. The ball hit the grass embankments. It then slowly rolled down to a house situated just at the end of those grass embankments.

Hetmyer played a fantastic hand of 80 runs off just 53 balls. The 24-year-old hit eight fours and four sixes during his innings. It was on the back of his fiery knock that Guyana Jaguars could post a total of 235. They managed to bat only 41.4 overs and got bowled out. Romario Shepherd also got a quickfire 58 off 52 balls.

In reply, captained by Jason Holder, Barbados’ Pride got to a bad start and their innings never got going. Eventually, when the score was 91 for 5 after 29.3 overs, a rain interruption forced the teams to get back off the field. They could not get back on the field after this and Guyana was declared the winners on the basis of the DLS method. They won the match by a margin of 56 runs.
